Social Emotional Learning (SEL)

Welcome to Social Emotional Learning!

Whole Child: Academic, Social-Emotional, Behavior The Chula Vista Elementary School District believes in educating and supporting the whole child—academically, behaviorally, and through social-emotional learning. With COVID-19 and distance learning, our students face disruptions to their daily routines and other stressors which can lead to an increase in worry, loss, and even anger. Thus, we realize it is more important now than ever to focus on our student’s emotional well-being.

Teachers continue to include social-emotional learning (SEL) in their lesson plans. To provide additional support for students and the family unit, we have created newsletters called, SEL Distance Learning Update: Family Edition. These newsletters contain SEL lessons and activities you can do with your children that are especially relevant in the current climate. There are also resources and read-alouds from our Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) Director and District Social Workers for your family to enjoy. We are committed to partnering with you to support the social-emotional wellness of our children and families.

Virtual Classroom

The social-emotional learning (SEL) virtual classroom is an engaging, online classroom that allows our students to build their social-emotional skills in a remote environment. It’s easy and fun to use. Just click on the pictures to access a variety of resources, read-aloud books, mindfulness videos, and games. Enjoy!
