Our "Heroes' Journey" begins Tuesday, January 14 in the Chula Vista Elementary School District. That's when the District kicks off a hero-themed Attendance Awareness Campaign in collaboration with the San Diego County Fair and Magic 92.5 FM.

“Good attendance helps children do well in school and eventually in the workplace,” said Superintendent Francisco Escobedo, Ed.D. “It is important to establish good habits, such as being present and on time, from the start. We look forward to supporting students and their families in developing and sustaining a culture of good attendance.”

The campaign is called, “Unlock Your Superpowers! School. Everyday.” Here are some highlights.

  • The contest period is January 14, 2020 through May 4, 2020.
  • CVESD, with support from partners San Diego County Fair and Magic 92.5 FM, will provide randomly drawn winners with prize packs. Eligible students are those with perfect attendance during the contest time period.
  • Grades eligible are TK - Grade 12.
  • All CVESD schools, District and charter, are eligible.
  • Each student who has perfect attendance during the contest period will receive one free ticket to the San Diego County Fair!

Good attendance matters for school success, starting as early as prekindergarten and throughout elementary, middle and high school.
